On your Kindle, the notes and highlights you make in ebooks and documents are saved to your account. You’ll need to export Kindle notes and highlights from your Kindle reader to view them in the same document or share them with others. Although you can always export notes highlights from your Kindle, there are also ways to share them from the Kindle apps for iPhone, Android, Windows, and Mac.
Export Kindle Notes and Highlights Using PC or Mac
You can extract notes and highlights directly by connecting your Kindle (regular, Paperwhite or Oasis) to your Mac or PC. Here’s how to do it:
1. Connect your Kindle to a Windows 11 PC or Mac.
2. Use file Explorer (Windows) or Finder Open Kindle Storage (Mac).
3. Open document Folder and copy my clippings.txt Copy the file from the Kindle storage to your Windows 11 or Mac.
The only hard part is that my clippings.txt The file contains all the notes and highlights in text form along with a description of the book and the time of the screenshot.
Export Kindle Notes and Highlights Using Email
Kindle ebook reader models offer a fairly intuitive interface for marking notes and highlights in the books and documents you read. But when you want to view those highlights on the big screen, you have to export them from Kindle. Unfortunately, you can’t view all your highlights under one menu or setting. This means you have to share notes highlights from each book separately and this is quite tedious on Kindle.
Here are the steps to export highlights from Kindle:
1. On your Kindle, Kindle Paperwhite, or Kindle Oasis model, open the book or document from which you want to share notes and highlights.
2. Tap the top of the screen to view the toolbar.
3. On the toolbar, tap a notebook View notes and highlights from the book by clicking the (binder) icon.
4. tap share Click the icon in the upper right corner of the Notes & Highlights view.
5. On the Export Notes pop-up, tap Send,
Amazon will then send all those notes and highlights to your kindle.com email address. They all appear in a file called Notes and Highlights Your clippings On your Kindle.
Keep in mind that some books will limit the number of notes and highlights you can export from the book.
Export Kindle Notes and Highlights from the Kindle Website
Amazon has a dedicated Kindle for Web that lets you view and export your notes and highlights from your Kindle. If you’re using it for the first time, you’ll need to use your Amazon account information.
1. Open the Kindle for Kindle web site in a browser tab. You may need to sign in with your Amazon account details.

2. Click on the Notes & Highlights section from the left sidebar.
3. This will open your notebook containing notes and highlights in a new browser tab. From the left sidebar, you can scroll or search for a specific book. On the right pane, you will find the relevant highlight and you can click on it Option To add or remove a note from it.
