When Joseph Feres, the founder of Hazelite Studio, announced the first “Split Fiction” at the first year’s game awards, it was not right: “We say, ‘We are a shallow absurd fuck without waving.’ At this time, I know that I do not have a vague sound.
Now when the “split fiction” is finally up to us, I can confirm that the rental is right: it’s some next-level shit. And if I created something to make an electrical as a “split fiction”, I will be a little blurry too.
Fans of Hazelite’s previous games “It takes two” and “A Way Out” will identify the basics of “Split Fiction”, which I played on PS5. Like its predecessor, it is a fast-moving cooperative two-player experience, through which you need to communicate with your player 2 to progress through the story. But “split fiction” is not just a hazelite formula’s rehearsal: it pushes the limits of style and cooperative gameplay in fantasy adventures by two wildly different worlds.
Things Rolling in the game does not waste any time: a brief initial Cuisin shows our heroes, ambitious authors MI and Zone, reaching the radar publishing to participate in the technical based form of storytelling. When the zo improves faster and surrenders to the pod of the radar, which brings his story to life in the form of virtual reality, MIO sensations. He tries to escape, but instead falls into the zona pod, which creates a mesh-up of his own styles.
The critical and protected MIO Vijay writes stories in the unique space, while the idealist and Babli Zoe specifically make in the fictional field. Girls quickly realize that the radar is not really helping to publish them – they are using their technology to steal ideas from the minds of optimistic authors (especially as AI art conspiracy is growing). Zoe and Mio set on an epic adventure in which each layer alternatively alternates between the style of their choice, finding the obstacles.
The game does a great job of balancing mechanics between the two players so that one character is not more desirable choice: when one chapter transforms the zones into a flying ferry and MIO powerful AP, the other gives Mio a climbing high dragon and zoo. As “wicked” would say, “Everyone deserves the opportunity to fly.” Zoe and Meo’s individual capabilities make the game appropriate to replace so players can experience all their unique weapons and powers.

It is difficult to describe the gameplay in “Split Fiction”, because there is such a tremendous variety. Shooting, platforming, surprise, whipping, flying, sneaking, s iling, driving, swimming, gravity-shifting, racing: you name, this game has been found. And yet these transitions are not struggling. Even when you are switching to a quiet fantasy area from a high-speed hoverscar race, the “split fiction” always looks unified. The game allows enough time to hang a new set of consistent skills (often properly tests your metal in a challenging boss war), but turns it into something new before you can be very comfortable. Enough to say, you will not get bored.
The game shines brightly in its side stories, alternative quests that give extra understanding for the unique gameplay and the inspiration of Zoe and Meo. Some otherwise allow the cooperative game to be competitive with a race at the brake speed, while others allow you to slow it down and explore a bit. My biggest standout was the “Moon Bazaar”, one of the zones compositions that allowed us to wander from the medieval village, made by mystical cats, push-matching malls and a huge snail.
If it is not clear enough until now: this game does not take itself very seriously. When it has a beautiful message about creativity and friendship, “split fiction” is absolutely fun. One -sided story turns zo and mio into pigs, one of which removes the rainbow – that is, the piggy is not placed by the meat grinder (RIP) and turned into a hot dog, which is also playable. There is also an amazing mening of the funny side characters to meet on a tour in the game, such as a royal monkey that breaks it on the dance floor, and speaks an adorable talk of kaddles – or otherwise.
Despite the silence, there is also a sneaky way of taking care of Deeply as Zoe and Mio people in “Split Fiction”, with an arc, which allows them to grow as both authors and friends when facing the trauma that inspired their great thoughts.

But not all of them are perfect. When the game life or health system (which is an overall Call Lt) chooses a close-up response instead of, that response can often be briefly threatened by players without immunity. This was especially disappointing during the boss’s battle in the Metroidvania-style .Innic level, in which almost every Response gave me the opportunity to escape the enemy who attacked me.
But that grip looks like a small potato for this scattered adventure that I have played in contrast to it. The final, whom I will not dare to waste, has the convenience of saying mind-banding, perspective-changing gameplay elements and stories that asked me audibly, “How did they pull this?”
The “split fiction” is dangerous to its best, moving on gameplay, story, graphics and especially creativity. It is the new gold standard for co-gamming-so hold your player 2 and get ready for the epicenter of the epic.
