By making it easy to communicate with people around us, WhatsApp has emerged as a trailblazer in online communication. Let’s go back to the story behind WhatsApp, its user-friendly features, its unmatched convenience and popularity that made it a household name.
In 2009, Jan Komm and Brian Acton decided to simplify communication. Thus, WhatsApp was born – a platform that aims to cut through the clutter, providing users with a clean, ad-free space to communicate.
WhatsApp is not just about sending text messages. Users can share the richness of their lives through images, videos and real-time location updates. Voice and video calls have further enhanced the user experience, allowing face-to-face communication regardless of physical distance.
One of the distinguishing features of WhatsApp is its commitment to privacy. End-to-end encryption converts messages into coded language, ensuring that only the intended recipient can read them. This significantly helped build trust among the app’s diverse user base.
Group chats allow for easy coordination within friend circles, families, and work teams. This aspect of WhatsApp enhances connection, allowing people to share moments, make plans and stay connected with multiple contacts simultaneously.
With over two billion monthly active users, WhatsApp has transcended cultural and geographical boundaries. It has now become an essential part of daily life for people around the world. The Platform is not for personal use only; Businesses have also adopted WhatsApp for customer engagement, updates and sales.
Regular updates introduce new features, ensuring that WhatsApp stays fresh and aligned with the evolving needs of its users. From emojis to practical tools, WhatsApp constantly caters to the preferences of its users.
Today, we’ll discuss whether creating a WhatsApp channel will notify your contacts that you’ve done the same.
If I create a WhatsApp channel, will my contacts get a notification?
Let’s get straight to the point: Will your contacts be notified if you create a WhatsApp channel? This is a very understandable question, especially if you’re creating a niche channel that you don’t want to tell everyone about.
The answer to this question is no, your contacts will not, and there is no reason to notify them when you create a WhatsApp channel. However, if they are also a channel admin, they will be able to see that you are the creator. However, they will not be notified about it.
Before we move on, let’s first talk about this new feature in the question: WhatsApp Channels.
This is an easy and private way to get updates on WhatsApp directly from people and organizations. It appears on a tab called Updates, a separate space from your chats with friends, family, and communities.
Channels are a one-way broadcast tool, allowing administrators to share text, photos, videos, stickers and polls. Once followers choose to stay informed about specific topics, hobbies, local updates and more, these updates are delivered to them.
There is also a directory to find and follow channels you like. Ways to join a channel are through admin or follower shares in chats or emails, or through invite links via online posts.
As an admin, your phone number and WhatsApp profile photo will be private and protected from followers. Likewise, if you follow a channel, don’t worry; Admin/s or other followers cannot see your phone number.
Admins have the power to block screenshots and forwards of any channel to control where their content goes. They also decide who can follow their WhatsApp channel and if they want their channels to be accessible in the directory.
